What About Social Drinking?

  • For social drinkers the pattern of alcohol consumption is important
  • The more alcohol drunk during each drinking session, the higher the likelihood that mental deficits will develop
  • This is important if you are a weekend or binge drinker
  • People who drink on average 3 or more drinks per day are at substantial risk of developing permanent deficits in certain thinking abilities
  • There is no safe level of drinking during pregnancy
  • Even 1 drink a day during pregnancy, results in impaired brain function in adult children
