Addiction Disrupts Circadian Rhythms

  • During addiction patterns of waking and sleeping are severely disrupted and as a result:
  • Judgment is impaired
  • Susceptibility to disease increases
  • Exhaustion of mind and body increases risk of relapse
  • Lack of sleep affects other daily patterns including work, eating, and exercise
  • Recovery is jeopardized as stress increases from lack of regular, quality sleep
