Siblings Approach Conflict Differently
- Parent-child conflict is a big source of rebellious child behavior toward both mom and dad
- First borns identify with parents and authority and are more likely to defend the status quo
- Later borns are more likely to identify with the underdog and to challenge the established order
- The effect of birth order is greater then gender, social class, race, and nationality
- Exceptions exist for every generalization
- Given the right circumstances even the
first born will reject the status quo
