Unhealthy Parents Cope By Using:
- Denial: ‘nothing is wrong’ or ‘something was wrong but it won’t happen again’. Parents minimize, discount, joke away, rationalize or re-label destructive behaviour
- Projection: Parents accuse the child of the very inadequacies they suffer from or they blame the child for the unhealthy behaviours that result from the parents’ inadequacies
