Alcohol, A Readily Available High

  • Within a few minutes of drinking alcohol, the effects are felt . . . a sense of well-being, relaxation, increased confidence, and reduced anxiety
  • Recent research confirms that just 1 or 2 drinks can slow down brain activity to the point of clouding judgment and affecting self-control
  • Alcohol even in small amounts is hazardous because it:
  • Impairs judgment
  • Distorts vision
  • Alters perceptions
  • Alters moods and emotions
