Using Your Purpose To Guide Your Actions

  • When you make your sense of purpose concrete by writing it out, it’s easier to know what is and isn’t consistent with it
  • For example: Your purpose is to live in harmony with people and to have positive interactions with people
  • It’s easy to see that starting or prolonging petty and unnecessary conflicts is inconsistent with this
  • It can be much easier to avoid being drawn into trivial conflicts when you have a shorthand reminder that your priority is harmony
