So What Really Is Stress?

  • Stress is an emotionally disruptive or upsetting condition
  • 1. It frequently occurs in response to adverse or negatively perceived external influences
  • Things that happen outside you that you think are bad or unfair
  • 2. It can occur when positive things happen that cause you to feel happy and anxious or worried at the same time
  • Events such as starting a new job or getting married
  • 3. It affects physical and emotional health
  • 4. It is frequently characterized by increased heart rate, a rise in blood pressure, muscular tension, irritability and depression
