2. Outcome Expectations
- Studies demonstrate that positive
outcome expectations of drinking
or using are linked to increased
rates of relapse
- A positive outcome expectation:
- You believe that using or drinking will have the desirable results of reducing your anger, making you feel less nervous or making you more likeable or sexy
- If an individual in a highly stressful situation believes that a single drink will make them feel more relaxed, then that belief will encourage a lapse
