Common Sleep Myths

  • Researchers have disproved some common sleep myths:
  • You need less sleep as you get older
  • Older people need just as much sleep as younger adults
  • Alcohol helps you sleep better
  • It’s sedative effect helps you fall asleep faster
  • You get less deep sleep so are less refreshed by sleep, are more likely to wake up in the night, more likely to snore and have breathing problems at night
