Realistic Expectations

  • If couples have low expectations they may not:
  • Bother to work on their relationship
  • Use their relationship skills to achieve satisfaction
  • Couples with poor relationship skills and high expectations:
  • Start off with lower levels of satisfaction
  • Then drop even further
  • Realistic, positive expectations and good relationship skills are the best combination for couple satisfaction over time
