Inequality Begins At Home
- A child in one family may be born with athletic talent that is never nurtured because the parents in that family value reading ability above all else
- In another family the fit between the talents of the child and the values of the parent may be perfect and the child’s abilities are nurtured and valued
- Inequality between children results when a child’s abilities are not as close a match with parental beliefs and expectations as are the abilities of another child or children in the family
