Lesson 30: Family and Addiction: Slide 29

Family Members Try To Help The Person Experiencing Addiction
- Families ‘protect’ the affected member from the consequences of their impaired behaviours by:
- Accepting behaviours such as alcohol and drug use, violence or failure to function in a responsible manner
- Taking over the impaired member’s responsibilities, bailing them out of trouble or shielding them from consequences of their behaviour
