Unhealthy Family Rules
- Reasonable rules provide ethical and moral structure for a child’s development
- If families are unhealthy:
- Rules are based on role distortions and bizarre perceptions of reality
- There is a huge gap between the parent’s expectations and demands and what we really want for ourselves
- As adults, we can discard rules only after we become aware of them
- When we can see the rules clearly we exercise free choice
