How Much Is Too Much Exposure To Alcohol?

  • Chronic heavy drinking creates serious problems
  • 2 drinks a day increases risk of heart disease or cancer
  • It is not clear how much is too much
  • Many people who drink do not appear to suffer any damage to their mental functioning
  • The lack of obvious impairment doesn’t mean there isn’t any
  • Studies show that even moderate alcohol exposure can kill and damage brain cells
  • Recent studies indicate damage occurs sooner than previously expected
  • Even one episode of binge drinking across a couple of days can damage the brain
