Addiction Can Be Part Of An Adopted Lifestyle

  • After being introduced socially to drugs or alcohol, people with a reasonably positive lifestyle:
  • Continue to use drugs or alcohol
  • Continued use leads to academic and work failure, family conflicts, loss of home or financial and legal troubles
  • Continue using until they experience physical problems, emotional problems, and a life crisis
  • Cognitive skills training is effective in breaking the cycle of abuse through the development of the functional beliefs, coping techniques, and planned changes in lifestyle
