Addiction Can Be Part Of An Adopted Lifestyle
- After being introduced socially to drugs or alcohol, people with a reasonably positive lifestyle:
- Continue to use drugs or alcohol
- Continued use leads to academic and work failure, family conflicts, loss of home or financial and legal troubles
- Continue using until they experience physical problems, emotional problems, and a life crisis
- Cognitive skills training is effective in breaking the cycle of abuse through the development of the functional beliefs, coping techniques, and planned changes in lifestyle
